New Leaders
New managers that have external coaching support outperform new managers that don’t significantly. Smart Step provides a personal coach for an initial 6 month period to a new manager. This coach will operate alongside internal support, training & mentoring given to the manager. The programme helps fully develop new managers making them more productive helping them quickly overcome the hurdles of transitioning into a new role. Using leadership development models, the coaching will help the manager to define and use their strengths effectively alongside highlighting areas for development. The coaching will develop essential skills such as:-
Influencing skills
Presentation skills
Time management,
Communications skills
Building confidence and presence.
Many organisations promote from within. This has many benefits, but often new managers and directors are not offered enough support in their new roles. It is assumed that they ‘know the job’, but new managers face many difficulties often having to deal with people they worked alongside, or having to balance people management alongside many other managerial duties. Providing them with a coach, will give them the support they need, helping them to work through the whole variety of work, time management and relational issues they may encounter, whilst helping them to maintain focus and motivation.
